Deputy Chief Minister Shukla reviews works of Sleemanabad Tunnel Project Issues instructions to ensure availability of irrigation water up to fields in the upcoming Rabi season

Bhopal: December 29, 2025’Deputy Chief Minister  Rajendra Shukla conducted a detailed review of the Sleemanabad Tunnel Project works at the Mantralaya. During the meeting, in-depth discussions were held on the project’s progress, technical aspects, timelines and issues related to water supply. Deputy Chief Minister Shukla directed Additional Chief Secretary, Water Resources Department, Dr. Rajesh Rajora, to ensure regular and effective monitoring of the project works to prevent any unnecessary delays at any level. He said that the Sleemanabad Tunnel Project must be completed without fail by the upcoming Rabi season.
Deputy Chief Minister  Shukla stated that the state government accords the highest priority to farmers’ interests and is committed to ensuring the timely and quality implementation of irrigation projects. Completion of the Sleemanabad Tunnel Project will enhance agricultural productivity in the Satna–Maihar region and lead to an increase in farmers’ income. He further said that the primary objective of the project is to ensure the timely availability of irrigation water to farmers. Therefore, it must be ensured that water reaches the fields and farmers receive its actual benefits. He instructed that, along with the tunnel, the works related to the distribution system, canals and field channels should also be completed simultaneously so that water supply can commence immediately upon completion of the project.
