Green Corridors Established in Jabalpur, Bhopal, and Indore Through Exceptional Coordination of Police and Health Departments

 

“A Significant Milestone in Healthcare Services Delivery,” Says Deputy Chief Minister  Shukla

Bhopal, January 23, 2025.Madhya Pradesh has achieved a historic milestone in healthcare services with the successful completion of its first-ever heart transplant. Deputy Chief Minister Shri Rajendra Shukla expressed immense happiness over this achievement and stated that it reflects the dedication and diligence of the medical staff at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Medical College, Jabalpur, and AIIMS Bhopal. He emphasized that the state health department is fully committed to public service. Shri Shukla congratulated the doctors, support staff, and police administration, whose prompt actions and teamwork made this accomplishment possible. He also wished the patient a speedy recovery.

Deputy Chief Minister Shri Shukla highlighted the effective use of green corridors and the PM Shri Air Ambulance Service in this process. He acknowledged that under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, this citizen-focused service has elevated the state’s healthcare system to new heights. Shri Shukla praised the coordination between the health department, police, and administration, which ensured the timely transport of organs through green corridors created in Jabalpur, Bhopal, and Indore—marking a first in the state’s history.

Family’s Benevolent and Compassionate Decision Commended

Deputy Chief Minister Shri Shukla lauded the family of 61-year-old Shri Baliram Kushwaha, a resident of Manakyai village in Sagar district, for their initiative to donate his organs. He described their decision as both noble and inspiring, especially during a difficult time. Shri Shukla stated that their selfless act is not only commendable but also sets an example for society. Their contribution symbolizes humanity and the gift of new life. He urged the citizens of the state to draw inspiration from this extraordinary act and work towards raising awareness about organ donation.

Shri Shukla remarked that the PM Shri Air Ambulance Service is being utilized not only for critical patient transport but also for emergency and essential medical services. This initiative is strengthening the healthcare system significantly. He wished for the patient’s speedy recovery post-transplant and emphasized that this achievement is not just a milestone in the medical field but also a beacon of hope for patients and their families. Shri Shukla called this accomplishment a pivotal step in the delivery of healthcare services.

Following the news of a brain-dead patient in Jabalpur, the state administration acted promptly. A team of doctors from AIIMS Bhopal reached Jabalpur overnight and carried out the organ retrieval process. The entire procedure involved the creation of three green corridors—in Jabalpur, Bhopal, and Indore. Exceptional coordination between the police and medical departments ensured the timely transport of organs. The heart was transported from Jabalpur to Bhopal via a green corridor and air ambulance, and successfully transplanted at AIIMS Bhopal. Meanwhile, the liver was transported to Choithram Hospital in Indore using a combination of helicopter and aircraft. The liver was first brought from the medical college in Jabalpur to Bhopal airport by helicopter and then flown to Indore by aircraft. The liver transplant procedure is currently underway at Choithram Hospital.
