Hot Air Balloon Expedition Flagged Off from Bhopal


A Hot Air Balloon Expedition under the aegis of the Army Adventure Wing, conducted by 3 EME Centre, was ceremonially flagged off from Bhopal by Lt Gen Arvind Chauhan, General Officer Commanding (GOC)Sudarshan Chakra Corps, along with Mrs Manjali Chauhan, Zonal President AWWA.
The GOC conveyed his best wishes to the team for a safe, successful and inspiring journey.
Aiming high in skill and spirit, the expedition also seeks to set a new Asian record for the longest free flight in a hot air balloon.
The Army Adventure Nodal Centre (Hot Air Ballooning) of 3 EME Centre is undertaking this cross-country expedition from 30 November to 10 December 2025.
The hot air balloons will fly the route Bhopal – Ashtta – Mhow – Sendhwa – Dhule – Aurangabad – Ahmednagar – Pune.
The expedition team comprises 02 Officers, 01 JCO and 08 ORs, including an experienced hot air balloon pilot with over 225 flying hours. The route will offer spectacular aerial views of the Narmada Valley in Madhya Pradesh and the Western Ghats in Maharashtra.
During the expedition, the team will interact with ex-servicemen, NCC cadets and local communities en route, promoting camaraderie and showcasing the spirit of adventure. The endeavour highlights the capabilities of the Indian Army’s Adventure Wing while fostering national pride.
The event is expected to generate significant interest among adventure enthusiasts and the general public, further promoting a vibrant culture of adventure and exploration in the country.
