September 25, 2024.The ongoing strike by RTO workers has brought the transport industry to a standstill, severely affecting the operations of truckers and transporters across the state. With the complete stoppage of RTO clerical work, several critical processes have been disrupted, including:
– Transfer of vehicle ownership
– Hypothecation work
– Issuance of NOCs
– Address changes
– Fitness renewals
As a result, thousands of vehicles are held up, leading to significant delays and financial losses for the transport fraternity. The entire state transport sector is reeling under the pressure of halted services, with no immediate resolution in sight.
Bal Malkit Singh, Chairman of the Core Committee and Former President of the All India Motor Transport Congress (AIMTC), expressed deep concern over the situation. He emphasized the adverse impact on the industry, stating, “The strike has paralyzed essential functions within the RTO, leaving thousands of vehicles stranded. Transporters are facing huge financial losses due to this prolonged disruption.”
The transport fraternity urges the concerned authorities to resolve the ongoing strike and restore normalcy at the earliest to avoid further damage to the industry, which plays a vital role in the state’s economy.
