Indian Army Hosts Seminar on Transforming Military Infrastructure with New Construction Technologies

Bhopal,10 February .The Indian Army and Chief Engineer Bhopal Zone, Military Engineer Services (MES) in collaboration with leading national and international experts, successfully organized a seminar on “Transforming the Indian Army with New Construction Technologies, Green Energy, and Climate-Resilient Infrastructure” at Bhopal Military station. The seminar aimed at driving innovation in military infrastructure to enhance sustainability, energy efficiency, and climate adaptability across military installations.

The event was graced by Maj Gen Sharad Kumar Shrivastava, VSM, Chief of Staff, Sudarshan Chakra Corps who gave inaugural address and highlighted the critical need for the Indian Armed Forces to adopt cutting-edge technologies that ensure mission readiness while reducing dependence on conventional energy sources.
The seminar brought together a distinguished panel of experts from IISD, CDRI, TERI, BMTPC, CROPC, the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, senior professors from IITs Kanpur & Mumbai, School of Policy and Governance, Startup India players and key industry leaders. These organizations are pioneers in their respective domains, contributing valuable insights into advancing military infrastructure development.
Seminar Highlights:
Two keynote addresses were delivered by Shri Amit Prothi, DG, CDRI and Shri Srikanta K Panigrahi, DG IISD-CMI who are eminent leaders in infrastructure, sustainability and renewable energy.Three expert panel discussions focusses on New Construction Technologies – Innovations in rapid deployment, smart materials, and automation. Green Energy – Integration of solar, geothermal, and other renewable solutions with military stations.
Climate-Resilient Infrastructure – Strategies for disaster adaptation, energy efficiency, and long-term sustainability.
Participation from 50 military stations online, ensured that the discussions had a broad impact across defence establishments.
Shri Ishwer Dutt, IDSE, Chief Engineer Bhopal Zone of Military Engineering Services (MES) addressed the gathering, stating MES is committed to adopting the latest technologies to create infrastructure that is not only robust and mission-ready but also aligned with global best practices in sustainability.”
The discussions was attended by senior military officials, engineers, policymakers, and industry leaders and the event underscored the role of Military Engineering Services (MES) in driving this transformation and ensuring that the Indian Army remains at the forefront of infrastructure innovation.
