Orientation Program at NIFT Bhopal Welcomes Batch ’24 with Insightful Sessions



The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Bhopal welcomed a total of 211 students, including 3 lateral entry students, into the batch of 2024. The new cohort comprises students from various disciplines: Textile Design (34), Fashion Design (34), Knitwear Design (29), Fashion Communication (41), Fashion & Lifestyle Accessories (30), Bachelor of Fashion Technology (21), and Master in Fashion Management (22). The orientation program commenced with an inspiring welcome address by Mrs. Chetna Patiyal, the course coordinator. Following her, Dr. Arnab Sen, the outgoing Campus Academics Coordinator, delivered an insightful speech, setting the tone for the academic journey ahead. Dr. Sen also introduced and congratulated the new Campus Academics Coordinator, Dr. Debjyoti Ganguly. Mr. Akhil Sahai, the Joint Director, and Lt. Col. Ashish Agrawal, the Director of NIFT Bhopal, also addressed the new students, sharing their vision and expectations for the batch. They emphasized the importance of adhering to the institute’s rules and regulations to maintain a harmonious and productive learning environment. A highlight of the orientation was the motivational speeches by esteemed alumni Ms. Saba Tiwari, Ms. Muskaan Shivhaare, and Ms. Sushmita Shahi. They shared their personal journeys as Niftians, encouraging the newcomers to embrace their mistakes, learn from them, and continuously strive for growth. The alumni stressed the significance of building strong portfolios in the competitive fashion industry and urged students to actively participate in co-curricular activities for holistic personal development. The orientation also featured a crucial session on Anti-Ragging Laws, Gender Sensitization, and Substance Abuse. Dr. Sangeeta Jauhari, Pro Vice Chancellor of RNTU University Bhopal, led this session, providing valuable insights and guidelines to ensure a safe and respectful campus environment. Practical safety demonstrations were also part of the program. The NIFT security personnel conducted a fire-fighting demonstration, educating students on essential safety protocols. Additionally, Dr. Sunita, a gynecologist, and Ms. Sushma Singh, a counselor specializing in mental and physical health, addressed the students, emphasizing the importance of maintaining both mental and physical well-being during their academic journey. Adding a special touch to the welcome, each new student received a jute bag as part of their welcome kit, symbolizing NIFT’s commitment to sustainability and eco-friendly practices. The orientation program at NIFT Bhopal successfully set the stage for the new batch, equipping them with valuable knowledge, inspiration, and a sense of community as they embark on their educational journey in the world of fashion technology. The orientation program spanned one week, with the first two days dedicated to document verification and the remaining three days filled with various activities and learning sessions.
