Report on the Launch of the Mechatronics Project

The Mechatronics Project was formally launched on 20 January 2025 at the Ninad Auditorium, PSSCIVE, Bhopal, in the august presence of eminent dignitaries from the Government of India, NCERT, KOICA, and the Embassy of the Republic of Korea. The launch marked a significant milestone in strengthening international collaboration in the field of vocational and technical education.
The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the distinguished guests along with student representatives, symbolising the joint commitment of all stakeholders towards innovation, skill development, and educational excellence. The lighting of the lamp reflected the spirit of collaboration between India and the Republic of Korea and the shared vision of empowering learners through advanced technology education.
The welcome address was delivered by Prof. Shiv Kumar Gupta, Principal, RIE Bhopal, who extended a warm welcome to all dignitaries, delegates, faculty members, students, and participants. In his address, he expressed pride and honour in hosting the launch of the Mechatronics Project at RIE Bhopal. He highlighted the significance of the project in strengthening vocational education through project-based learning and interdisciplinary approaches. Prof. Gupta emphasised the role of institutional collaboration and thanked NCERT, KOICA, and all partner institutions for their continued support and guidance.
This was followed by a detailed presentation on the Mechatronics Project by Dr. Jeong-Yoon Cho, Team Leader, KOICA. He elaborated on the vision, objectives, and structure of the project, highlighting its focus on integrating mechanical systems, electronics, automation, and emerging technologies to enhance students’ employability and problem-solving skills. He underlined the importance of hands-on learning, industry relevance, and international best practices in shaping the project framework.
Mr. Minyoung Jeong, Country Director, KOICA India Office, addressed the gathering and spoke about the KOICA–NCERT collaboration. He emphasised the strong partnership between the two institutions and reiterated KOICA’s commitment to supporting India’s vocational education ecosystem. He highlighted that the collaboration reflects the shared values and long-standing friendship between India and the Republic of Korea, particularly in the areas of education, technology, and human resource development.
The programme was further enriched by the remarks of Prof. Dinesh Prasad Saklani, Director, NCERT, New Delhi. He highlighted the relevance of the Mechatronics Project in the context of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and stressed the importance of skill-based, experiential, and multidisciplinary learning. He appreciated the efforts of PSSCIVE, RIE Bhopal, and KOICA in conceptualising and implementing a programme that aligns with national priorities and global trends.
The keynote address was delivered by H.E. Lee Seong-ho, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to India. In his address, he underscored the deep-rooted diplomatic and educational ties between India and Korea. He highlighted how collaborative initiatives such as the Mechatronics Project can act as catalysts for innovation, cultural exchange, and mutual growth. He expressed confidence that the project would create new opportunities for students and educators and further strengthen bilateral relations.
Shri Sanjay Kumar, Secretary, Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education, Government of India, addressed the gathering and highlighted the importance of introducing advanced technological programmes at the school level. He emphasised that initiatives like the Mechatronics Project are crucial for preparing students for future industries and for bridging the gap between education and employability. He appreciated the collaborative efforts of NCERT and KOICA and expressed optimism about the project’s long-term impact on vocational education in the country.
The addresses were followed by an interactive question-and-answer session, during which participants and stakeholders shared their views, sought clarifications, and offered constructive comments on the implementation and future expansion of the project. The discussion reflected keen interest and collective ownership of the initiative.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Prof. Deepak Paliwal, Joint Director, PSSCIVE, Bhopal, who expressed gratitude to all dignitaries, speakers, organisers, faculty members, students, and partner institutions for their valuable contributions and support. This was followed by the rendition of the National Anthem of the Republic of Korea and the National Anthem of India, symbolising mutual respect and international partnership. The event concluded with an official group photograph, marking the successful launch of the Mechatronics Project.
