Sports Minister Vishvas Sarang Flags Off “Velocity Night Run 2026”; Enthusiasm and Endurance Light Up the Night

Bhopal: TT Nagar Stadium came alive with fitness, excitement, and youthful energy on Saturday night as Rabindranath Tagore University (RNTU) successfully organized the grand “Velocity Night Run 2026.” The first-of-its-kind stadium night run in Bhopal attracted enthusiastic participation from runners, fitness enthusiasts, sportspersons, students, and youth, delivering a strong message of health awareness, fitness, and sportsmanship.
The event was inaugurated by Shri Vishvas Kailash Sarang, Hon’ble Minister for Sports and Youth Welfare, Government of Madhya Pradesh, who attended as the Chief Guest. Shri Anshuman Yadav, Director, Department of Sports and Youth Welfare, Government of Madhya Pradesh, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour. The dignitaries flagged off the run and encouraged participants throughout the event.
One of the highlights of the event was the participation of more than 700 runners, ranging from 8-year-old children to 70-year-old senior citizens. Their enthusiastic involvement showcased a shared commitment to fitness and healthy living. The diverse participation transformed the event from a sporting competition into a vibrant movement promoting health awareness and active lifestyles. Spectators enthusiastically cheered both young runners and senior participants, creating an inspiring and energetic atmosphere throughout the evening.
Under dazzling stadium lights, accompanied by high-energy music and the rhythm of hundreds of determined footsteps, the venue transformed into a celebration of fitness and perseverance. Participants competed in 1-hour, 2-hour, and 3-hour categories, demonstrating remarkable endurance, discipline, and sporting spirit. Well-planned track lanes and efficient event management ensured a safe and successful experience for all.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Vishvas Sarang said that fitness is no longer a concern limited to athletes but an essential part of every citizen’s life. He emphasized that innovative initiatives such as Velocity Night Run are crucial for encouraging youth participation in sports and promoting healthy lifestyles. He appreciated Rabindranath Tagore University for introducing such a unique concept and stated that it would inspire a positive attitude toward sports and wellness among young people.
Shri Anshuman Yadav highlighted that sports are not merely a medium of competition but a powerful tool for personality development, discipline, and leadership. He encouraged young people to regularly participate in sports and fitness activities to build healthier and stronger communities.
On the occasion, Dr. Aditi Chaturvedi Vats, Pro-Chancellor, Rabindranath Tagore University, said, “Velocity Night Run is not just a sporting event; it is a meaningful initiative towards building a fitter and healthier India. Our objective is to connect youth with sports, fitness, and positive lifestyles so that they can become physically and mentally empowered.”
Dr. Sangeeta Johri, Registrar, Rabindranath Tagore University, noted that the university has consistently promoted sports, wellness, and holistic development among students and youth. She added that the event not only raises awareness about fitness but also strengthens values such as teamwork, discipline, and self-confidence.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, athletes, fitness enthusiasts, and citizens from across the city. Many participants described it as one of Bhopal’s most unique sporting experiences, stating that running under the floodlit stadium at night was both thrilling and inspiring.
