His efforts to ensure an uninterrupted power supply across the state through the ‘Atal Jyoti Abhiyan’ in the energy sector remain noteworthy to this day. Similarly, the massive solar power project in Rewa stands as a testament to the fact that development and environmental conservation can go hand in hand. He also demonstrated that the development of a region is not defined solely by buildings and roads; respecting its history, culture, and the sentiments of its people is equally vital. The initiative to reintroduce the white tiger to its natural habitat exemplifies this sensitive approach.
Commitment to Education, Culture and Society
Shri Shukla believes that the true strength of any society lies in its education and culture. His efforts—ranging from the establishment of a Sanskrit university and the development of colleges and hostels to the preservation of cultural heritage—reflect this very philosophy. He also prioritized initiatives such as developing sports infrastructure for the youth, expanding green spaces in urban areas, and strengthening the rural economy. His dedication to the welfare of cows and environmental conservation further highlights his compassionate nature. His vision serves as an inspiration to the youth. He often says—

The transformation of the Vindhya region under his capable leadership—particularly since he assumed the responsibilities of Deputy Chief Minister—has been truly remarkable. Your visionary approach towards realizing Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s resolve of a “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India) has earned Rewa—and the Vindhya region—a distinct identity on both national and global stages. Following the launch of the state’s first civil aviation policy, the dream of enabling air travel for the common man—transforming the journey from “hawai chappal” (simple slippers) to “hawai jahaz” (airplane)—has been realized in line with the Prime Minister’s vision. Rewa is now directly connected by air to Delhi, Indore, and Raipur. Additionally, air services to Bhopal and Kolkata will also commence soon. His successful efforts to secure airport facilities for Rewa and improve connectivity with other parts of the country stand as living proof of his commitment. Linking the region to major metropolitan cities via rail and air, alongside the development of flyovers and roads, has accelerated progress across sectors such as industry, tourism, education, drinking water supply, urban beautification, and healthcare. He has maintained a keen interest in environmental conservation, spearheading tree plantation drives and the creation of urban forests across various locations.
The establishment of the Raj Kapoor Auditorium has provided artists from the Vindhya region with a platform to hone their talents. He has facilitated world-class infrastructure for sports and oversaw the construction of a sports complex to support youth athletics. The development of the riverfront along the Beehar River is also a result of his efforts. Furthermore, the establishment of the Sanskrit University was achieved through his initiative, reflecting his deep commitment to education and culture.
Shri Rajendra Shukla has consistently strived for the cause of Gau-seva (service to cows). He has worked to foster public participation in this cause and to make these efforts economically viable. The Basaman Mama Cow Sanctuary stands as a tangible model of excellence in the care and conservation of cows.
Renewed Confidence in the Health Sector
During his current tenure as Deputy Chief Minister and Health Minister, Shri Rajendra Shukla has launched several significant, modern initiatives to strengthen public health services. He holds a clear vision that ensuring access to quality healthcare for every citizen is a primary responsibility of the government.
Momentum was gained in expanding medical education across the state, alongside efforts to increase MBBS seats in various government medical colleges.
Special emphasis was placed on upgrading district hospitals, introducing new health facilities, and sanctioning essential posts.
Work was undertaken to strengthen the digital health infrastructure in the state to ensure the effective implementation of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM).
Continuous attention was focused on strengthening maternal and child health services, identifying high-risk pregnant women, and improving treatment protocols.
Efforts were made to reinforce specialized units for neonatal care and to enhance the quality of healthcare institutions.
Sustained initiatives were launched to increase the availability of doctors and healthcare workers and to bring health services closer to the general public.
Special emphasis was placed on transparency, timeliness, and a result-oriented work culture within public health schemes.
Shri Shukla often remarks, “Healthcare is not merely a departmental obligation but an extension of human compassion.” This sentiment is clearly reflected in his decisions.
Expansion of Medical Education
Medical education in Madhya Pradesh has gained new momentum. Significant steps in this direction include increasing MBBS seats in various government medical colleges, developing new medical institutions, and making efforts to increase the availability of specialist doctors. Special emphasis has been placed on the effective implementation of various programs, including the ‘Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan’. Continuous reviews are being conducted to strengthen systems for the regular check-ups of pregnant women, the identification of high-risk pregnancies, and the provision of timely treatment.
Strengthening Newborn and Child Health Services
Efforts are being made to ensure that every infant receives superior medical care after birth through the expansion of Special Newborn Care Units and maternal-newborn care services.
Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission
The implementation of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission has been accelerated in the state to promote digital health services. Continuous work is underway to digitize health records, register health institutions, and provide citizens with easy access to healthcare services.
Expansion of Emergency Health Services
Initiatives like the ‘PM Shri Air Ambulance Service’ represent a significant step towards providing prompt medical assistance to patients in critical situations. Efforts to enhance the effectiveness of health services through modern technology and rapid coordination are becoming a hallmark of this leadership.
