*Three-Day Hands-on Workshop on Outcome-Based Education Concludes at Scope Global Skills University*

*“* Faculty members receive practical training in OBE implementation, assessment of learning outcomes and academic quality enhancement; certificates awarded to participants *”*

*Bhopal* The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Scope Global Skills University (SGSU), Bhopal, successfully concluded a three-day capacity-building programme and hands-on workshop on Outcome-Based Education (OBE). The workshop aimed to strengthen faculty members’ understanding of OBE and equip them with practical skills for its effective implementation in academic planning, teaching, assessment and continuous improvement.

The sessions were led by *Prof. (Dr.) J. R. Sharma, Principal Consultant at Accreditation-Edge STEMVOGEL Consulting* , who served as the Expert Advisor for the programme. Through detailed discussions and practical exercises, he guided participants on the key principles of outcome-based education and their application in academic processes.

During the workshop, participants explored the development and alignment of the university’s and departments’ vision and mission with Programme Educational Objectives (PEOs), Programme Outcomes (POs), Programme Specific Outcomes (PSOs) and Course Outcomes (COs). Special emphasis was placed on outcome mapping, Bloom’s Taxonomy, and the preparation of Course Teaching Plans and Course Assessment Plans.

The programme also covered the development of rubrics for question papers and assignments, assessment of course attainment, and the application of direct and indirect assessment methods. Participants were introduced to the role of student feedback, Students’ Exit Surveys and Employers’ Surveys in evaluating programme outcomes and identifying areas for academic improvement.

Prof. Sharma emphasised that Outcome-Based Education is not limited to defining learning outcomes; rather, it is a comprehensive process involving effective teaching, systematic assessment, analysis of results and continuous improvement. He encouraged faculty members to align teaching-learning practices and assessment methods with clearly defined educational outcomes.

*SGSU Chancellor Dr. Siddharth Chaturvedi said* , “The quality of higher education is measured not merely by the completion of a curriculum, but by what students actually learn and how effectively they apply that knowledge. Outcome-Based Education provides a meaningful framework for aligning teaching and assessment with clearly defined learning outcomes. Workshops of this nature help faculty members adopt contemporary academic practices and further strengthen the overall learning experience and development of students.”

*SGSU Vice Chancellor Dr. Vijay Singh said* , “Effective implementation of OBE makes the teaching-learning process more structured, outcome-oriented and impactful. It is important for faculty members to define course outcomes, establish appropriate assessment criteria and regularly analyse students’ progress. Such capacity-building programmes play a significant role in strengthening academic quality and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.”

*SGSU Registrar Dr. Sitesh Sinha said* , “Effective quality assurance requires coordination among academic planning, teaching practices and assessment systems. This workshop on OBE will help faculty members improve their teaching processes in alignment with defined learning outcomes and contribute to the university’s ongoing efforts towards academic quality enhancement.”

At the concluding session, the university expressed its appreciation to Prof. (Dr.) J. R. Sharma for his expert guidance and valuable contribution. He was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation in recognition of his role as Expert Advisor. Certificates were also awarded to faculty members and other participants in recognition of their participation in the three-day workshop.
