NLIU Bhopal Hosts First-of-its-Kind Symposium on Securities Law and Capital Markets


The Centre for Financial Markets and Regulation at National Law Institute University Bhopal successfully organized a two-day national symposium on “Securities Law and Capital Markets” on April 4 and 5. The event marked a significant milestone as it is being regarded as the first symposium of its kind organized by any law school in India in this specialized domain.The symposium was conducted in collaboration with two of India’s premier law firms, Luthra & Luthra Law Offices and Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, bringing together leading practitioners, academicians, and students on a common platform to deliberate on contemporary issues in securities law and capital markets.
The event was graced by the presence of the Vice-Chancellor, S. Surya Prakash, who highlighted the growing importance of financial regulation in India’s evolving economic landscape.The sessions witnessed insightful deliberations under the guidance of eminent legal professionals and experts, including Rueben Chako, Abhinav Kumar, Ravi Dubey, Saswat Mohanty, Pradeep Samal, Ankesh Kumar, Shubham Jain, Vikas Gupta, Amit Pratap Singh, and Tulika.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chairperson of the Centre, Krati Rajoria, emphasized the need for greater academic engagement in the field of securities law. She expressed her intent to make the symposium an annual event to provide meaningful exposure to law students in this rapidly emerging area. The symposium also encouraged student participation through competitive events, with cash prizes worth ₹40,000 awarded to the winners, along with internship opportunities at leading law firms.
The event concluded on a high note, reinforcing NLIU Bhopal’s commitment to fostering academic excellence and industry engagement in niche areas of law.
