TATA AIG Crosses 25,000 MSME Policies in Madhya Pradesh, with Bhopal as the Largest Contributor

Company surpasses ₹1,450 Cr GWP in MSME segment nationally; Madhya Pradesh emerges as a key growth market in FY26

Bhopal, 25 August 2026: TATA AIG General Insurance, one of India’s largest general insurance player today announced that it has crossed 25,000 SME policies in Madhya Pradesh in FY26, with Bhopal as the largest contributor. This shows the insurer’s growing presence in the state’s MSME sector.
The company is focusing on key industrial hubs such as Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Ujjain, Dhar and Singrauli. Madhya Pradesh has close to 56.5 lakh MSMEs. Of these, 26.5 lakh are Udyam registered and 6.1 lakh are GST registered. These businesses employ nearly 1.25 crore people.

Pranay Shah, Head, MSME Products, TATA AIG General Insurance, said: “Madhya Pradesh has significant potential in India’s MSME growth story, with a large and diverse enterprise base spread across manufacturing, engineering, agriculture linked businesses, education, technology and other sectors. Our focus is on understanding the evolving risk landscape across enterprises in the state and providing reliable, easy-to-access insurance solutions. In FY26, we have seen strong momentum across key segments, while our investments in dedicated underwriting capabilities and on-ground resources are helping us respond more effectively to the needs of MSMEs. By strengthening our local presence and investing in specialised capabilities, we aim to help MSMEs build resilience, safeguard livelihoods and ensure business continuity.”

At the national level, TATA AIG’s MSME business has crossed ₹1,450 crore in Gross Written Premium for FY26. The company issued over 7.5 lakh MSME policies across India. It also covered more than 20 lakh lives under Workers’ Compensation and Group Health Insurance as part of its commercial lines business.

Digital claims are also growing. In Madhya Pradesh, 38% of health claims were filed through the mobile app. 61% of health claims were cashless, as of YTD July 2026. The company has a network of 490 hospitals in the state, including 431 hospitals under its cashless (VPN) list. MSMEs are a key part of Madhya Pradesh’s economy. TATA AIG says it will keep investing in local teams and technology to help these businesses protect their livelihoods and grow steadily.
